In order to utilize your Automated Marketing package to it’s fullest potential we suggest creating some custom automations that fit your business.

This can range from reminders for old customers to a discount campaigns for your new ones.

  1. We will first navigate to our MARKETING tab in admin backend

  1. Once here we will select AUTOMATION MAINTENANCE

3. After that we need to be under the CUSTOM EVENTS tab to create the first *“TRIGGER” for our automation.

* A trigger is an event that happens in order for an automation to begin going through it’s steps

These triggers can be a variety of things that you can choose from the drop down menu.

Instant = Automation starts as soon as “X” event happens
Daily = Automation starts On/During/After specific day

Finally once you select your trigger and give it a “Event_ID” (Please keep this as short and easy as possible, separate words with “_”. After that’s done click on the “Add Automation Event” after which we will go to “Access Marketing Portal” that will take us to ActiveCampaign panel.

note

Adding an event to the ActiveCampaign tracker

Once we have added a trigger from the admin backend we need to link it and track it with ActiveCampaign, once you see the ActiveCampaign panel you will click on the bottom settings button as seen in the photo below and go to “Tracking” tab.

Once here you will copy the “Event_ID” that you created for that trigger in the field seen below named “Add Event” and click on ADD. This will allow our Admin Backend and ActiveCampaign to be linked for THIS SPECIFIC TRIGGER.

New automations will require the same steps.

Selecting a “Event is recorded” for custom triggers

Now in order to use these custom triggers we will have to select any automation that’s already set up or create a new one.
Once you do that you will be prompted by ActiveCampaign’s automation builder to select a step, you will click on “Select a Trigger” from which you will get the pop-up as seen in the second picture below.
From here we will select the EVEN IS RECORDED window which will give us a list of “Event_ID’s” that we created earlier as our custom triggers.

And just like that, you can make custom triggers and automations that work for YOUR business!
Experiment and see what works for you, ActiveCampaign combined with information and custom reports that our software provides can give you a great idea of what your customers like, so make sure you utilize that to your advantage to help your business grow.
