How to Set Up Secondary Profiles and Online Ordering Links
This guide walks you through setting up a duplicate restaurant profile to enable online ordering for restaurant partners. By creating a duplicate profile, you can customize settings and financial models while maintaining seamless operations. For a video representation of this please see the bottom of the article.
Key Steps:
1. Navigate to the Restaurants Area
Open the Restaurants section in your platform.
Select the location where the duplicate restaurant will be created.
Identify the restaurant (e.g., "Eva’s Diner") and click the Clone button.
This action copies all existing information into a new duplicate profile.
2. Customize the Duplicate Profile
Update the restaurant’s alias to distinguish it (e.g., "Online Ordering").
Mark the profile as Do not display on website/marketplace to ensure it doesn’t appear on the frontend.
Activate the profile by toggling it to active status.
Save the changes.
3. Generate Online Ordering Links
Go to the Marketing section and locate the Embedding and Linking area.
Select the location and the newly created duplicate restaurant.
Add a referral code for tracking purposes:
Use distinct codes (e.g., “website,” “Facebook,” “Google”) to monitor performance on various platforms.
Enable Limit customer to restaurant for a white-label experience.
Generate the link and integrate it where needed (e.g., restaurant website, social media, or Google Business profile).
4. Select a Financial Model
Choose between two common pricing models based on the partnership’s needs:
Model 1: Reduced Commissions
Reduce delivery commissions (e.g., 10%) and takeout commissions (e.g., 5%).
This approach incentivizes restaurant partners to prioritize your platform over third-party providers.
Model 2: Credit Card Processing Fee + Service Charge
Apply a credit card processing fee (e.g., 2.89% + $0.29 per transaction).
Add a flat service charge for the duplicate profile:
Example: $X per order as an "Online Ordering Service Charge."
Configure this charge under the specific duplicate restaurant profile.
Additional Considerations:
Referral Code Management:
Use different referral codes to track the source of orders (e.g., website vs. social media).
Integration:
Work with the restaurant partner to ensure links are applied correctly on their website and platforms.
Transparency:
Communicate financial models and benefits clearly to the restaurant partner.
