CHOWLY Revel POS Integration Overview

Revel Sync

The below guide is an overview of Revel Menu Sync integration as it works through Chowly along with menu management tips on how to have the most seamless integration possible. From menu setup, what we sync, hours, and limitations.

 

Menu

Chowly uses Revel’s “Custom Menus” to sync to your online ordering or third party platforms. We can pull any custom menus that are created and choose which one to showcase online to your customers.

It should look something similar to this. You can assign entire categories or remove individual categories or item you do not wish to offer online.

What is synced from the menu?

 

Chowly pulls many settings and configurations related to the categories and items selected in the custom menu. These include: sort order, photos, descriptions, and the minimum/maximum selection for modifier groups relating to the items being synced. Chowly does not pull the tax rate within Revel. During onboarding the tax rate will be posted for the entire menu based on your local and/or state tax rate.

 

Chowly also supports price tiers within Revel if you happen to charge one price in store but another online.

 

Many locations will already have a custom menu set up since the custom menu is a collection of already configured categories or items.

 

If you are unsure where to set up you products, photos, or descriptions, go into the setting of any item through Products in your management console and and look for the setting “Basic Product Details” and “Display/Print Options”.

Hours

Our sync integration also pulls hours based on the custom menu we are syncing. You can find and set these hours by navigating from the Main Dashboard > Products > Custom Menus > Edit Effective Date/Time

 

There needs to be an effective date and time range for the menu to be continually synced. You can set the effective date to a long standing date so it never expires but be sure to set your standard business hours here as these are the hours pushed to third parties so customers can order. See example below:

 

*Important note: These hours should match or be within your online ordering hours set up under Settings > Online Ordering settings > Online Ordering Settings / Timetables.

 

If your online ordering hours are not set up, orders may fail to integrate as your menu will be open from the custom hours settings but the POS is not accepting online orders from the online ordering hours.

 

Operation, Support & Limitations:

Limitations

  • 86ing or Marking items out of stock: Our integration cannot read an item’s stock level. Any changes to product inventory will not update. 86ing will need to be done by calling our support team who can help mark items out of stock or clients can uncheck items from the custom menu and it will be removed the following day on the nightly re- sync.

  • All tickets will be opened under the "Atlas Admin" employee through the API.

Operation

  • Order Process: Orders will integrate into the terminal under the “Orders” section. Online Ordering (Web Orders) must be enabled for the order to appear.

  • This should have been enabled when signing up with Chowly through Revel but if not, you will need to contact Revel Support.

  • Orders integrated will have a pre-selected order type (togo, delivery, pickup, etc.) and tender and close to any custom payment type that can be set up within Revel (Chowly, Grubhub, Ubereats, Online, etc.) to help with reporting.

Delivery Distance and Delivery Minimum
 

  • Please set your delivery radius to a minimum of 15 miles.  If you delivery your own UberEats orders, please set your delivery distance maximum to the number of miles between your restaurant and the White House. This is because there are a few small instances when we use the White House address as a placeholder for a delivery address that is unreadable by our API . 

  • Please set your delivery minimum amount to $5 or lower to avoid any possible issues around order totals for Chowly integrated orders. 

 

Support
 

  • Syncing/Menu Updates: Chowly will automatically sync the custom menus previously selected every night between the hours of 12AM-2AM. When you make changes to products or settings included in the custom menu, these are synced. Whether it be adding a new category to the custom menu, adding an item, or changing the price of a modifier, all published changes will be synced nightly
